On February 12, Liaocheng City successfully held“Chinese Festival·Liaocheng Style” Lantern Festival Activityat “Chinese Culture Corner·Nishan Bookstore” ofKyrgyzstan-China University. Through a variety of cultural displays and interactive experiences, the activity conveyed the rich atmosphere of the ChineseSpring Festival to the Kyrgyz people and showcased the unique cultural charm of Liaocheng City.

The Lantern Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the first month in the traditional Chinese calendar (February 12 this year), marks the end of Spring Festival celebrations.At the activity, calligraphic works of the character “福” (Fu,meaning “fortune”), created by artists from the Liaocheng Calligraphers Association, were prominently displayed. These pieces, characterized by bold strokes and dynamic artistry, not only demonstrated the beauty of Chinese calligraphy but also drew crowds of local attendees. Additionally, traditional handicrafts such as Chinese knots, red lanterns, and lucky pouches, meticulously crafted by Liaocheng artisans, attracted Kyrgyzstan’s residents with their exquisite designs and festive appeal, allowing them to immerse themselves in the joyous spirit of Chinese traditions.

The activity also vividly illustrated the historical roots of Lantern Festival and its customs, including lantern displays, riddle-solving, and eatingyuanxiao(sweet rice dumplings), through short videos, posters, and other formats. These engaging presentations not only deepened the local understanding of Lantern Festival customs, but also sparked broader interest in Chineseculture.
